Plastic caps will be distributed throughout Colombia to prevent the spread of diseases that grow inside motor helmets, local media reported Tuesday.
The program will begin in Neiva, a city in the southwestern Huila department, before going national.
Authorities hope to prevent the manifestation of diseases such as influenza and herpes that grow in the moist, warm helmets of motorists.
The caps will be made in Mexico and will be designed to only be used once before they must be disposed of.
