Colombia strengthens ties with Indonesia, Costa Rica

by Toni Peters December 21, 2011

Indonesia, Jakarta

Colombia is seeking to stregthen its links to Indonesia and Costa Rica following a World Trade Organization meeting of trade ministers last week.

Colombia’s Trade Minister Sergio Diaz-Granados met with his Indonesian and Costa Rican counterparts at the VIII Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization which took place in Geneva, Switzerland.

Indonesian Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan offered to visit Colombia within the first three months of 2012 and bring with him a trade mission.

Minister Diaz-Granados announced that they will open an office of Proexport, Colombia’s trade promotion agency, in the Indonesia capital Jakarta in 2012.

Relations between the Andean nation and the Asian country have been improving following the reopening of the Colombian Embassy in Jakarta in September 2011.

Furthermore minister Sergio Diaz-Granados also met with the Costa Rican Trade Minsiter Anabel Gonzalez in Geneva. They discussed issues relating to a bilateral agenda.
