In-form Atletico Nacional will look to make it four wins on the bounce when they entertain reigning champions Santa Fe in the Colombian soccer Primera A this weekend.
The Medellin-based side is yet to taste defeat in the Liga Postobon since the opening fixture of the season and will be confident against a Santa Fe side desperately trying to find some form.
A 2-1 home defeat against La Equidad on Thursday means Santa Fe languish in 16th position and 6 points off the top 8.
Nacional meanwhile thumped Patriotas Boyaca 3-0 in midweek, taking their unbeaten run to 11 games and pushed them up to fourth in the table.
While the defeat confirmed Nacional’s third win on the trot, for Patrotas it signaled the end of coach Miguel Augusto Prince’s reign at the club.
Following the defeat Prince decided to leave the club after what was their seventh defeat of the campaign.
Eduardo Retat will take over the managerial role at the Tunja-based club who face Once Caldas on Sunday.
At the top of the table Millonarios take on Cucuta Deportivo in Bogota knowing that a win would keep them top of the table, at the very least tied on points with Junior.
Millonarios, who didn’t feature in the league in the week due to their Copa Sudamerica commitments, enjoyed a 2-0 victory over Junior in the last league game and will once again be hoping for home advantage to pay dividends against Deportivo.
Junior meanwhile could take over top spot, for a few hours at least, as they travel to Deportes Tolima in the first match on Saturday.
The Barranquilla based club thrashed Atletico Huila 4-0 on Wednesday, a result which maintained their pursuit of Millonarios at the summit.
In other notable fixtures, Independiente Medellin face a trip to Boyaco Chico, while third-placed Itagui will look to maintain their superb recent form when they take on Deportes Quindio.
