by Marcus Sales July 17, 2013

The Colombian navy on Wednesday said it had seized 791 kilos of cocaine on the pacific coast.

Units of the Navy’s Marine Infantry Brigade carried out a search and control operation at Bahia Solano airport in the department of Choco, and seized the narcotics, which according to the Colombian navy where headed to Central America.

The Colombian navy stated that it was the “strange conditions of arrival and the suspicious attitude of the crew” which initially caught the attention of troops.

The following operation led to the detention of two crewmen, one a Colombian national. The administrator of the hanger in which the aircraft joined the airport was also arrested.

In total, the Colombian navy seized 36 sealed boxes containing 791 kilos of cocaine, three GPS devices, two pieces of satellite equipment and $5,320 in cash.

The drugs had an approximate street value of $20 million.
