Colombian tennis player Mariana Duque on Tuesday advanced to the second round of French Open.
The 22-year-old from Colombian tennis team Colsanitas won her fourth straight game in this year’s tournament in Paris.
Duque who had won the three previous games strengthened her advance by defeating the Czech player Kristyna Pliskova with the result 6-2, 6-0.
The four victories in the tournament allow Duque to obtain 160 points, which has brought her close to belonging to the group of 100 best players in the world.
Duque in the second round will meet French player Marion Bartoli who defeated Olga Govortsova from Belarus.
The Colombian reached the second round of grand slam tournaments on two previous occasions; in 2008 at the US Open and in 2009 also at Roland Garros.
