Colombia hosts international transport convention

The 13th edition of “Expotransporte” taking place in Colombia’s second largest city of Medellin looks to bring entrepreneurs and innovators from all corners of the transport sector together.

Announcing Mexico as the special invitee to the annual three-day event, Expotransporte showcases everything from transport logistics to mobility, infrastructure and management applications.

Organizers of the event running from May 14 to May 16 event in Medellin’s Plaza Mayor convention center, hope to attract over 10,000 visitors and facilitate more than $45 million in transport-related deals, Portafolio newspaper reported.

Transport management innovation

The Colombian-made Cloudfleet application, focused at streamlining the management processes for transport companies with a multiple vehicles, has been one of the highlights as this year’s event, El Espectador newspaper Reported.

According to developers from the Medellin-based Incremental software, the online application gives company managers a more organised overview of their fleets — allowing them to optimize vehicle maintenance, fuel usage, merchandise inventories, and sales.

The online system, which requires only a internet connection and a computer where managers enter their data, already has approximately 15,000 monthly users in the country.

According to El Espectador, data management through the online application totals $1.80 per vehicle.

The Expotransporte is organised by The Association of Freight Transporters (ATC) and Conexiones event operators.
