Colombia honors Spanish chief of police

The Colombian ambassador to Spain honored on Thursday the Spanish Director General of Police for his distinguished service and cooperation between the two bodies.

In the midst of the celebration of 122 years of the Colombian police force, the ambassador Orlando Sardi announced on behalf of the Colombian police director Jose Roberto Leon Riaño, that the Spanish police director Ignacio Cosido Gutierrez would be awarded along with three other commissioners.

“It is an immense honor that the director wants to decorate me […] we feel twinned with the Colombian police,” said Director Cosido, who also expressed his joy for the strong hits made against drug trafficking in Spain, “there is satisfaction in the Spanish police because we believe we are winning this war.”

According to the W Radio, Cosido added that most Colombians living in Spain are working, integrating and contributing to the development of “the motherland.”

He also noted that crime is still a problem in Spanish society however the police are determined to put up a good fight against it.
