Colombia news - FARC camp bomb

Colombia confirmed Thursday that a 15-year-old Ecuadorean girl was killed in an armed forces air raid on a FARC camp.

During a meeting of the Commission on Sensitive Issues, attended by ministers from the neighbouring countries, Colombia handed over the fingerprints of the dead minor.

The body was then identified as Doris Carolina Cadena Benarcazar, from Ecuador’s Carchi province, the Ministry of Defense website states.

Colombian armed forces carried out the raid early Monday on a camp of the 48th Front of the FARC in Ipiales, Nariño department, close the the Ecuadorean border. Seventeen bodies have been recovered, including that of a 12-year-old boy, who was initially thought to be Ecuadorean but has since been identified as a Colombian refugee in the neighboring country.

Ecuador has spoken out against the recruitment of minors into the FARC.
