Colombia celebrates its cinema (video)

by Courtney Scott August 14, 2012

Colombia news - Cinema

Colombian cinema from the past two years will be celebrated at the fourth edition of “The Week of Colombian Film.”

From August 31 to September 9 the best Colombian movies commercially shown between August 2010 and May 2012 will be showcased throughout the country to celebrate the growth and internationalization of Colombian cinema.

There will be free or discounted showings of 30 different movies presented in cinemas, television channels, outdoor exhibitions and other alternate forms of display. The movies will come from a variety of different genres that areĀ all up for a public prize chosen by the Colombian Minister of Culture and various media sources.

The films will be exhibited in 55 municipalities in 27 of Colombia’s departments. The event gives Colombians the opportunity to appreciate some of the best films of their country that they may have missed in the last two years.
