Colombia beats Ecuador 2-0 in friendly

by Newswires March 26, 2011

Colombia news - Colombia Ecuador

Colombia downed Ecuador 2-0 on goals by FC Porto’s Freddy Guarin and Radamel Falcao in Saturday’s friendly at Vicente Calderon Stadium in Madrid.

Guarin was his team’s most explosive player throughout the match. The midfielder put Colombia ahead in the 24th minute, beating Ecuador goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez just inside the post from a free kick.

Ecuador pressed forward looking for the equalizer in the second half, but it paid the price when Guarin set up Falcao to seal the victory in the 74th with a left-footer from inside the area.

Both sides travel to The Hague, where Colombia will play Chile on Tuesday while Ecuador faces Peru in friendlies between teams preparing for this summer’s Copa America in Argentina.
