A German citizen was liberated from a house in Cali on Sunday by members of the municipal police, according to local media reports.
Commander of Cali Police Hoover Penilla said that, through information provided by citizens in the Manuela Beltran neighborhood where he was being held, the 55-year-old man was found tied up and unconscious in Colombia’s third-largest city.
“He appeared to be doped and, upon waking up, told us he was a German citizen and he had come to visit his sentimental partner,” said Penilla.
According to the commander, the foreign citizen was received by his “sentimental partner’s” stepdaughter, who gave him, in the company of two or three other individuals, drugged beverages.
“All indications indicate that the ‘stepdaughter,’ in the company of two other men, planned to maintain this person kidnapped to later demand money from his family in the exterior,” said the police commander.
As of Monday morning, three suspects were being held in relation to the kidnapping, while the German citizen was transported to an assistance center to be evaluated.
