Colombia native Mario Hernandez is in New York City this week to showcase his new series of handbags, inspired by the work of Colombian artist, Nelson Vianey.
Luxury fashion designer Mario Hernandez and pop artist Nelson Vianey teamed up in 2010 to produce a luxury line of casual women’s handbags titled “Circolica” to showcase this week at New York City’s Fashion Week.
“We were the first to launch bags with artists’ work on them. Louis Vuitton did last year with a Japanese artist,” remarked Hernandez.
This will mark the 5th series of handbags of this style and the colorful designs were inspired largely by modern sensational acrobatic circus troupe, Cirque du Soleil. The two collaborators are huge fans of the circus.
The innovative fashion designer has already agreed to an additional partnership and a similar project with American abstract expressionist artist, William Debilzan.
Once Hernandez has completed showing his line of bags in Fashion Week and in the Colombian Consulate in New York, he will travel to Miami, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Colombia, Paris (France), London (United Kingdom), and Monoco, where it will coincide with the festival of clowns in February 2014.
