Colombia news - calle 13 chocquibtown

Medellin will host two Latin Grammy Award winning groups in September.

The two Latin hip-hop giants, Calle 13 and Choc Quib Town, will perform together in La Plaza de Toros La Macarena on September 16.

Choc Quib Town, from Colombia’s western Quibdo department, is one of the most successful Colombian bands to date. Their unique blend of hip-hip, jazz, electronic, and salsa is strongly influenced by their Afro-Colombian roots.

The Puerto Rican urban group Calle 13 is also internationally renowned. They have won 10 Latin Grammy Awards as well as U.S. Grammy Awards for Best Latin Urban Album in 2008 and 2010. The group is known for their social commentary about Latin politics. The singer, “Residente”, received notoriety after wearing a shirt declaring former President Alvaro Uribe a paramilitary.

Tickets are available at Ticket Express and range from $30 (COP54,000) to $60 (COP106,000). For more information call 444 4446.
