Police in the western Colombian city of Cali arrested two members of guerrilla group the FARC who were in possession of explosives, thought be intended for a terrorist attack on the city’s centre, El Espectador reported Monday.
The men were located via intelligence collected by Colombia’s national police, and authorities have since identified one of the two as being alias “Tierra Mala,” a FARC leader in charge of logistics for the guerrilla organization.
Police arrested the men while they were in the process of installing the improvised explosive devices inside a vehicle, which has been confiscated by officials.
The two captured FARC members will be handed over to Cali’s prosecution authorities.
