Britain has allocated approximately $24 million for projects in Colombia aimed at combating climate change and the development of agriculture projects.
As part of a forestry summit in London, the British Minister for Energy and Climate Change, Edward Davey, confirmed that the British government will give $24 million to Colombia via the International Fund for Climate Change.
The UK set up the ICF to, “help developing countries tackle climate change and reduce poverty.” From 2011 to 2015, the UK will provide more than $4.6 billion to developing countries, including Colombia.
“We are very pleased with the donation from the British Government to help in livestock projects in certain regions and the contribution to the producers and cattlemen of the country,” said the Vice minister of Agriculture who indicated that the funds would be allocated to “water treatment, Colombian soil and climate change” as well.
