Bomb explodes at regional Prosecutor General’s Office

by Edward Fox April 29, 2011

Colombia news - explosive fiscalia

A bomb exploded at the regional headquarters of the Prosecutor General’s Office in Valle Del Cauca, southwest Colombia in the early hours of Friday morning, leaving five people injured.

A low explosive device was apparently placed and detonated at the office in the town of Pradera, destroying the building’s doors and windows and shattering the glass in 10 other nearby buildings, Spanish new agency EFE reported.

The local bomb squad entered the building after the blast based on reports that a second explosion was imminent though no device was found.

The official number of people injured is still unknown as authorities have failed to confirm reports of the five so far. It does appear however that no person was fatally wounded in the blast.

No group has been accused of placing the bomb yet though it is known that the FARC along with several other drug trafficking and criminal gangs have a presence in the area.
