Carlos Garcia’s resignation was announced by Bogota mayor Gustavo Petro Monday and attributed to “health problems.” However Garcia told Caracol Radio his reasons were “strictly personal” and that he was stepping down because of tiredness resulting from work obligations
Mayor Petro also announced that Garcia will be replaced by Fernando Rey, a mobility expert from Santo Tomas University.
On March 13 six directors of tha mass transit system resigned. The following day Garcia told Caracol Radio he would not be leaving his post.
Garcia said that his successor was “closer to [Petro’s] model of management.”
