The Bogota Philharmonic Symphony launched a new season Friday with a celebration of the centenary anniversary of Gustav Mahler and a performance of Mahler’s Ninth Symphony.
This year’s season will feature four international orchestras and six notable soloists. Next week the Symphonic Orchestra of Colombia will perform, followed by the Simon Bolivar Symphony of Venezuela. Notable soloists include famed flamenco dancer Carmen Linares on vocals, internationally acclaimed celloist Johannes Moser, Beethoven enthusiast Cyprien Katsaris on piano, Latin-Grammy winner Vicente Amigo on flamenco guitar, and Benjamin Schmid also on cello.
This year’s season will run from July to late September.
