International airline AviancaTaca announced Tuesday that it will begin operating direct flights from Bogota, Colombia, to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, three times weekly, local media reported.
The new flight route, which will commence on November 4, will make AviancaTaca the first airline to connect Bogota and Rio de Janeiro with direct flights. The route had previously been serviced with flights that made various stops along the way.
The flight route will allow people to easily access 21 other destinations within Colombia or to connect with other countries in Central America or cities in the United States.
According to the CEO of AviancaTaca, “with the launch of this new route, the airline is betting on providing an incentive for corporate travel and tourism with destinations such as Bogota, Cali, Medellin, Cartagena, and San Andres and it is also an excellent option to connect with Caracas, Quito, Guayaquil, Mexico, Panama, Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, Aruba, and Curazao.”
The airline will be flying an Airbus A319 between the two cities with a capacity to carry 120 passengers on each flight.
