Spain’s Atletico Madrid expressed interest to sign Colombian striker Radamel Falcao Garcia to replace Kun Aguero, various media reported Wednesday.
“El Tigre” reportedly has already been coveted by soccer giants Real Madrid and Chelsea and speculation runs high that Falcao Garcia will follow his former Porto coach, Andre Villas-Boas, to Chelsea.
With Argentine striker Aguero expressing his desire to leave Atletico Madrid, the club has announced they would jump at the chance to bring Falcao on as their number one striker. Falcao now shares a locker room with Atletico Madrid defender Luis Perea in the Copa America, who is sure to be trying to convince Falcao to join his Europa team.
Falcao has recently announced his desire to leave Porto, saying “I have matured in every respect and I am qualified to play in a big league…The Spanish league is good, but I prefer the Premier League as there is a better atmosphere on the field.”
He decided to stir up the rumor mill by adding, “there is a club that I dream to play for. They are foreign but I do not want to say who it is now.”
He has €30 million buyout clause in his contract, which based on his recent performance, could be considered a bargain. One of the world’s best strikers, Falcao has showed a dominate display of ability at the international level in the Copa America by scoring two goals against Bolivia to secure Colombia’s first position in the group above favorites Argentina.
