Army kills 6 ‘FARC guerrillas’

by Hannah Aronowitz March 15, 2011

colombia news - guerrilla's death

Colombia’s National Army killed six suspected FARC guerrillas in the rural area of La Macarena in the central Meta department, newspaper El Espectador reported Tuesday.

The conflict was part of operation “Mariscol,” which began last Friday against the FARC’s 31st and 40th Fronts.

Twelve of the rebel fighters surrendered to the troops and the soldiers rescued a 14-year-old boy who was fighting for the guerrillas.

Army units also dismantled nine camps in the region which had the capacity to house 200 people, and seized weapons and other war materials.
