Appeal to fly home body of British man killed in Medellin

by Edward Fox March 10, 2011

Colombia news - Frederick Garcha

Friends of Frederick Garcha, a young British man who was murdered Saturday in Medellin, Colombia, start an appeal to raise money to repatriate his body.

The appeal, “Bring Freddie Home,” was started to ease the financial burden on the victim’s family, as Garcha did not have insurance and it is the policy of the U.K. Foreign Office not to pay for repatriation.

On Saturday March 5, Garcha was shot and killed in the western part of Medellin after two youths on a motorcycle tried to rob him while he was in a vehicle stopped at a set of traffic lights.

He was 22 years old and had been living in Medellin for nine months.
