Fajardo backs away from Green Party

Colombia news - Sergio fajardo

Former Medellin mayor Sergio Fajardo resigned from the board of directors of the Green Party on Monday due to dissatisfaction with the party’s organization.

In a letter addressed to the National Green Party, Fajardo made it clear that he will remain within the party, but will not be responsible for the decisions that are currently being made within the party.

Fajardo criticized, among other items, the party’s lack of organization, economic initiative, regional campaign support, and guidelines for growth.

The distance Fajardo is taking follows the withdrawal of former Bogota mayor Antanas Mockus, who was unhappy with the political flirting with former President Alvaro Uribe of the party’s current Bogota mayoral candidate Enrique Peñalosa.
