The American rock guitarist Joe Satriani will be returning to Bogota, Colombia for a concert performance in September.
Joe Satriani first performed in Colombia in 2008 and his second appearance in the country will be to promote his new album ‘Strange Beautiful Music: a Musical Memoir’, which spans the entirety of his musical career.
Satriani’s career began almost 30 years ago when he released his first album in 1986. He has toured with Mick Jagger and Deep Purple, and been nominated for 15 Grammy awards. Satriani is most well known for his ‘Surfing with the Alien’ album, and for a succession of G3 concerts with other musical legends.
Colombia’s international music scene has been growing steadily over the last few years. Many stars have included Colombian dates on their world tours, and American singer Rihanna will be performing in July 2014, according to RCN Radio.
A number of music-centric events are held in Colombia, like Medellin’s International Electronic Music Festival boasting international DJs from Australia, France, Sweden, Italy and the United States.
The Esoteric Picnic festival, which held its fifth event earlier this year in Bogota, featured 41 international artists including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pixies, Phoenix, Tiesto, Gogol Bordello and Nine Inch Nails.
Joe Satriani’s concert is due to take place in the Salitre Magica park, Bogota, on September 23. Tickets for the concert will go on sale June 1.
