Colombian airline Aires forgot to board two young children in their care onto a flight from Bogota to Medellin, reported El Espectador.
The mother of the children, Lizette Arango said she paid $64 extra for her children to be escorted onto the flight and instead they were left waiting in El Dorado airport in Bogota for six hours.
Ms Arango only found out what had happened when she approached a staff member after her children did not arrive on the expected flight, to be told they had been left in Bogota.
A spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Industry said they have already started an investigation into the error and they hope that the children’s parents will place a formal complaint to the state, to advance the sanction process.
Aires apologised for the mistake and announced they will start an internal investigation over the incident.
