Colombia’s Deputy Prosecutor General has 17 investigations pending against Inspector General Alejandro Ordoñez, local media reported Thursday.
According to Radio Santa Fe, the investigations are for alleged offenses against public administration, libel, slander, and abuse of authority, among others.
The first investigation against Ordoñez was opened in August 2009 for the crime of malfeasance – the doing of a wrongful act while serving as a public official – a complaint most recently repeated in July 2013.
Investigations regarding slander and falsifying a public document date back to September 2009, and continue to this day.
In 2012, the deputy prosecutor general opened another four investigations against Ordoñez for six offences, including influence-peddling and embezzlement. In August of that year a further investigation was opened for defamation.
But in the first six months of 2013, the deputy prosecutor general has opened 10 investigations in relation to seven offences against Ordoñez. According to Caracol Radio, within these 10 investigations, there are eight accusations of the Inspector General having acted against the law.
