A Colombian agency on Monday launched the largest electromagnetic monitoring system of telecommunication antennas in Latin America.
This system, created by the National Spectrum Agency will allow the majority of Colombian citizens to ensure that the telecommunication antennas around them comply with the limits of electromagnetic fields established as safe for human health, as set by the world health organization.
The agency conducted more than 21,000 measurements covering 70% of Colombia’s population, enabling citizens to inform telecommunication companies whether their system complies with international regulations.
The system also allows users to ensure that the power used by mobile phone networks remains low, thus “reiterating the commitment of the National Spectrum Agency to the welfare of the Colombian people.”
