The Colombian army said Friday it was close to discovering who leaked the coordinates of FARC leaders leaving Colombia to participate in the FARC-government peace talks in Havana, Cuba, to ex-president Alvaro Uribe Velez.
For this reason, General Sergio Mantilla asked the person who leaked the information to Uribe to “recognize the error” as soon as possible. Army General Javier Rey, who was mentioned by Uribe in relation to the “tweet,” was cleared of all suspicion of leaking the information.

On Monday, Uribe published on his personal Twitter account the exact coordinates of a temporarily demobilized zone in the central Meta department, which allowed two FARC members to leave Colombia for Havana. The revelation caused skepticism among several public figures. Congressman Ivan Cepeda of the leftist Polo Democratico party asked Colombia’s Prosecutor General, Eduardo Montealegre, to investigate Uribe for leaking the information. Additionally, Colombian defense minister Juan Carlos Pinzon said the revelation was “worrying.”
