Colombia’s army condemned the alleged executions of three girls who attempted to defect from the FARC.
A defected guerrilla known by the alias of “Carlos” reportedly said that the teenagers had tried to escape from the ranks of the FARC’s First Front Armando Rios guerrilla column operating in the rural southwestern Cauca region.
The youths were 15, 16 and 17-years old according to reports.
Carlos said that the girls were tied up for a month 24-hours a day, then were made to take part in fighting, and tied up for 10 days more.
Military officials condemned the alleged executions which are being investigated by the authorities.
According to reports, 70% of the FARC’s First Front ranks are made up of children, most of whom are indigenous.
