Colomborama, an exhibition of Colombia’s contemporary art, has come to Norway’s capital of Oslo.
The project, which will run until June 2013, is the biggest ever display of Colombian art in northern Europe, including the work of 17 contemporary Colombian artists whose work will be displayed in the form of exhibitions, performances, workshops, installations, concerts and projections.
Highlights of the exhibition include ‘Bogotapolis’, a group show combining the work of a new generation of artists with that of well-established artists, which addresses several interpretations of Colombia’s capital city through the themes of violence, drugs, marginalization, authority, recycling, history, myths and globalization.
Other works include installations, one by Humberto Junca, whose art consists of nine used school-desks and drawings that represent a fusion between Norwegian black metal bands and violent events in Colombia’s modern history.
Colombian Crack Family is an urban movement that emerged from the hip-hop and rap scene primarily in the Ciudad Bolivar area of Bogota. The Colombian rappers will develop a collaborative project with rappers from the Oslo group, Breaknecks, and together they will host a series of concerts and workshops.
Colomborama is curated by Norweigian Marius Wang in collaboration with Olga Robayo, the members of the cultural alliance ‘El Parche’. The two formed their alliance when they met in the late ’90s while Wang was backpacking in South America.
