Colombian superstar Carlos Vives aired his new song on Monday entitled “I was born again,” a fitting metaphor for his musical rebirth.
The single marks “a new era of Vives,” his website stated. The singer/songwriter, also known as an actor and entrepreneur, had not produced an album since 2005. However, his much anticipated new album will be released in the coming year along with a world tour throughout Latin America, the U.S. and Europe.
Vives said that the new song is very provincial, written in the city of Santa Marta, a town in the very north of Colombia, and mixed with pop folklore. According to newspaper El Heraldo, the musician claims, “I feel [the song] is very fresh, very new, very happy and it is one of my favorite songs from the new album.”
Carlos Vives has a highly respected musical and acting career that “transcends three decades,” and will now “initiate a new era with grace, experience and vision.”
