Colombia’s salsa and hip-hop fusion group ChocQuibTown on Thursday received a Gold Record for sales of their latest album.
The western Choco natives received two acknowledgements for their most recent album “Eso es lo que hay.” They received a gold record award for their physical sales in the country, as well as for digital sales which reached eover ten thousand downloads.
Members Goyo, Slow, and Tostao released the 10-song CD last year which is an innovative mix of the body-shaking rhythms the Pacific coast is known for.
“To all of the people that support us we want to thank you because it gives us proof that we are doing things well and it’s a motivation to make music with care, with love, with responsibility and without worries,” said Tostao.
ChocQuibTown will continue promoting their album and performing all over the country, and the group is currently preparing for a concert with the Puerto Rican band Calle 13.
“There are many places that we haven’t visited but we already have a plan to go to the Caribbean Coast and later we’ll go to Barranquilla where we play with Calle 13 on September 14,” added Tostao.
Slow, another of the other members, also thanked salsa star Luis Enrique for his support on the album.
“It’s an overall proud experience, for example, Luis Enrique appeared and supported us with his energy and motivating us to continue doing things well,” said Slow.
