Former Colombian X-Factor contestant Farina Pao has gone topless on the cover of this month’s Metro magazine.
In a sign that the singer’s career is definitely not flagging, the topless shot, available for children to see on shop shelves across the country, was taken to promote her new album.
The 2005 reality show semi-finalist, whose last album ‘Yo Soy Farina’ was so popular it has no entry in Wikipedia, accompanied the shoot with a heart-string-pulling interview, which is unlikely to be read by anyone beyond the journalists told to do so.
As well as her harrowing tale of poverty and blah blah blah, she is apparently single! Which is a useful ‘fact’ to know about someone hawking their body to wring the last few drops of money from the fame machine.
But the truth of the matter is, Farina genuinely does seem like a nice girl, from a tough background, who has managed to rise through schoolyard jibes about her mixed-race heritage and name to carve out a genuine opportunity in a difficult world.
It is only a shame that such people should be forced to demean themselves in this way if they are to have any hope of clinging on to the dream we call “celebrity.”
