Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos has calculated foreign direct investment in Colombia will top $13 billion for 2011, an increase of 35% on the previous year, reported newspaper El Espectador.
In 2010, foreign direct investment reached $9.6 billion. Santos said $13 billion “is a figure never before seen in the country.”
Underlining the behavior of the Colombian economy, President Santos said that exports have grown and now surpass $39.7 million.
In relation to coal production President Santos said the figure jumped from 74 million tons to 85 million tons.
Furthermore with petroleum production, the head of state said, “It is possible that we will reach the end of the year … with a production of a million barrels a day which is one of the big goals which we had predicted.”
