Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos said Monday that his country and Venezuela “have a deal” to jointly find and arrest FARC leader “Timochenko” who is assumed to be in the two neighbors’ border region.
Santos said while in London, England that he trusted Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez to arrest the FARC leader if he is found to be on Venezuelan soil.
“We have a deal with President Chavez,” said Santos. “If we have evidence of the presence of any of the leaders there, and we give him the coordinates, he would act immediately.”
Timochenko took control of the FARC earlier this month after Colombia’s armed forces killed his predecessor “Alfonso Cano.” The new FARC leader is suspected to be in the northern border region between Venezuela and Colombia.
