Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos traveled to Peru on Wednesday for the inauguration of President-elect Ollanta Humala and Latin American trade bloc meetings.
The head of the Colombian state highlighted the excellent bilateral relations that were created by the outgoing president, Alan Garcia.
“We came to bid farewell to President Alan Garcia, who has been a great friend of Colombia throughout his presidency,” said Santos after his arrival in Peru’s capital of Lima on Wednesday.
Santos expressed his hope that the strong relationship between Peru and Colombia is maintained by Humala.
“President Ollanta Humala is also a great ally and I’m sure it will be apparent in all projects between the two countries. Colombians greatly appreciate this relationship with Peru, we consider Peru a true strategic partner, every relationship is likely to be strengthened and improved,” Santos said regarding Humala’s official inauguration, which will take place today.
Santos will also be in meetings with Latin American trade blocs Andrean Community of Nations (CAN) and the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) this afternoon.
