Police found a minefield on a road in the southern Caqueta department that was allegedly installed by FARC guerrillas, reported Caracol Radio on Tuesday.
According to the commander of the local police department, authorities found over 132 pounds of powerful ammonium nitrate explosives armed with electronic detonation devices. The explosives were reportedly intended to destroy police and military vehicles.
Authorities reported that explosives experts with the police are currently working to disarm the minefield that was planted on the road frequently used by dairy farmers traveling from the San Antonio Getucha municipality towards the department capital of Florencia.
