A woman and a young girl have been injured in an alleged FARC grenade attack in the southwest Colombian department of Cauca, El Espectador reported Friday.
The attack is believed by authorities to have been perpetrated by members of the FARC’s Jacobo Arenas Front in the town Caloto, Cauca.
The rebels began at dawn on Friday by launching a grenade at a military base in the upper part of the town, before attacking a police station in the town center.
The two injured civilians were wounded while traveling through the area at the time and are not believed to be the intended targets.
Military sources stated that the guerrillas used homemade grenades and followed them with gunfire.
