Colombia has a new Philharmonic Orchestra that is attempting to revive orchestral classics in the country, reports Caracol Radio.
The band is comprised of 44 former wind musicians from prestigious orchestras such as the National Symphonic Band, District Orchestra, Symphonic Winds of Tunja and the Symphony Orchestra of Colombia. They are hoping to take classic Colombian wind music to the world.
The band members have been rehearsing for the past three months, paying their own way while they search for sponsors and audiences.
The band recently entertained shoppers at the Hacienda Santa Barbara shopping center in Bogota on Wednesday with local and international music.
