Colombia resumed the importation of Venezuelan fuel during an official ceremony in which 150,000 gallons were recieved.
Venezuela’s Energy and Petroleum Minister Rafael Ramirez and the Governor of the north-Colombian Norte de Santander department William Villamizar Laguado met in the middle of Francisco de Paula International bridge to officialize the resumption of trade.
The gasoline and diesel will be taken to various Terpel refineries in Norte de Santander. From there it will be distributed to other gas station in the department and will go on sale to the public from April 4.
Local authorities hope that 3.1 million gallons will be delivered monthly from the neighboring country, a figure expected to increase to 5 million gallons under the “fuel exportation scheme” of Venezuela’s national government.
