Two buffalo had a brief escape from a Bogota slaughterhouse but neither could avoid the inevitable, reported El Tiempo Tuesday.
The bovine beasts escaped from San Martin abattoir in the west of the Colombian capital and charged down Avenida Ciudad de Cali, in the evening of Monday 21 March. Unfortunately their bid for freedom was short-lived.
One of them encountered the business end of a taxi and died 30 minutes later from the impact. The other managed to flee though a field but was captured by slaughterhouse staff and Metropolitan Police and returned to San Martin to meet its fate.
