Shakira will is returning to her motherland to perform in Shakira and the Pop Festival in Bogota Saturday, reports newspaper El Espectador.
The Barranquilla native is beginning her South America tour with the Bogota gig to promote her newest album, “Sale el Sol” (The Sun Rises). She will share the stage with Colombians Jbalvin and Bomba Estereo, the U.S. band Train and Mexicans Belanova. The concert in the Simon Bolivar Park in Bogota will also promote the Barefoot Foundation, which helps Colombian children who are lacking opportunities.
Shakira, who was recently named Artist of the Year by the prestigious Harvard University in the U.S., has been awarded platinum and diamond sales for her new album by Sony.
The Colombian superstar has received more nominations for the Billboard Latin Music Awards than any other female, and is sure to clean up at the awards show set to take place April 28 in Miami.
