The mother of deceased ERPAC commander “Cuchillo” files suit against the Justice and Peace Unit of the Prosecutor General’s Office for the return of her son’s valuables.
According to newspaper El Tiempo, the mother of Pedro Oliveiro Guerrero, alias “Cuchillo,” — a drug trafficker and neo-paramilitary leader who was killed on Christmas Eve — is requesting the return of a diamond studded hand-gun, two all-terrain-vehicles, a Rolex watch and a crucifix, among other possessions found at the time of Cuchillo’s death.
General Oscar Naranjo, leader of the national police, previously said that these items would be put in the Police Museum, but Elba Beatriz Silva, an attorney for the Justice and Peace Unit, called for these items to be donated to the reparations fund for victims of the violence, reports El Tiempo.
“The gun that belonged to Cuchillo had valuable precious stones and those are what we are seeking for the victims, the rest of the gun can go to the museum,” said Silva.
The report also commented that the police have begun investigations to find the assets of the former paramilitary commander in the department of Meta.
Cuchillo was the former leader of the Centauros Bloc of the AUC, a paramilitary umbrella organization which combated guerrilla groups as well as trafficking narcotics. After the demobilization of the AUC, Cuchillo formed the Colombian Revolutionary Popular Anti-Terrorist Army (ERPAC), a drug trafficking organization. On Christmas Eve of 2010 Cuchillo was killed when 150 police, counter-narcotics and intelligence officials stormed his residence in the Meta department.
