The International Fair of Bogota (FIB) kicked off in Colombia’s capital on Monday, bringing together more than 700 companies from 15 countries to showcase the latest in industrial machinery, infrastructure technology, and alternative cities.
President Juan Manuel Santos inaugurated the event, which is expected to host more than 50,000 professional visitors.
The executive president of International Center for Trade and Expositions (Corferias), where the event will be held, said the FIB has been a source of “pride and satisfaction, and has already contributed to the industrialization, modernization, and automation of the country.”
Corferias explained through social media that the FIB is an “iconic event” that has been “bringing the world to Colombia” for 60 years.

Participating countries include Germany, Brazil, India, China, the United States, and Venezuela, among others.
Among the largest delegations is Brazil Machinery Solutions, which is coordinating the participation of 16 Brazilian companies that expect to exceed their business deals from the last FIB which amounted to almost $7 billion, according to W Radio.
The FIB runs until October 3rd.
