Seven alleged FARC soldiers turned themselves over, along with 1.2 tons of explosives to Colombian military forces in the southwestern department of Putomayo Monday.
Seven members of FARC’s squad 48 surrendered voluntarily to units of the Mobile Brigade No. 13″, according to a military press release.
The explosives were intended for use against civilians, security forces and oil companies, according to the military.
In addition to the explosives, soldiers confiscated detonating cord, a shotgun and ammunition.
The surrendered FARC rebels met with authorities to start the process of demobilization in hopes of returning to civilian life.
