7 drug trafficking gangs operate in Colombia: PG

Seven main drug trafficking gangs operate in 21 departments throughout Colombia the Prosecutor General revealed Thursday.

According to Radio Caracol the gangs “Los Rastrojos”, “Los Machos”, “Urabá”, “Los Paisas”, “Nueva Generación”, “Erpac” and “Renacer” operate in the departments of Choco, Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Nariño, Norte de Santander, Cesar, Antioquia, Bolívar, Santander, Caquetá, Cordoba, Magdalena, La Guajira and Sucre.

Oliverio Guerrero alias “Cuchillo” is the leader of “Erpac”, Javier Antonio Calle Serna is leader of “Los Rastrojos”; José María Negrete alias “Raul” is the leader of “Renacer”; Juan de Dios Usuga is leader of “Urabá”, Fabio Leon Velezis the leader “Los Paisas” and Hilber Nober Urdinola is the head of “Los Machos”, according to the Prosecutor General.

These groups primarily control drug trafficking but are also involved in homicide, extortion and money laundering.
