Fifty-two companies operating in Colombia in the petroleum, mining and gas sectors were listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, financial publication Portafolio reported Monday.
Companies such as Pacific Rubiales, Gran Colombia Gold and state-run oil company Ecopetrol are now in the Canadian market.
Janis Koyanagi, director of business development and strategy of Toronto Stock Exchange – the company which operates the Toronto Stock Exchange – and TSX Venture Exchange said “there is a big opportunity for companies listed on both the Toronto Stock Exchange and on TSX Venture to do a double listing on the Colombia Stock Exchange.”
Koyanagi said Pacific Rubiales is a good example as it was first listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and then on the Colombian Stock Exchange. The reason why companies want to do this is that they have greater access to potential capital in the Colombian market.
