4 dead, 15 injured in horrific bus crash

by Hannah Aronowitz February 9, 2011

Colombia News - bus crash, chia cajica

A horrific bus crash on a highway north of Bogota, Colombia, leaves four dead and 15 injured Wednesday morning, reports Radio Santa Fe.

The driver of the Aguila company bus lost control of the vehicle, the bus jumped the divider of the two-way highway connecting the town of Cajica with Chia, and collided with a car carrying three passengers, reported Cundinamarca firefighter representative Alvaro Farfan.

The two men and one woman in the car died, as did one commuter on the bus. Fifteen of bus’ other passengers were injured and are receiving medical attention in La Caro and at the Chia hospital.

Preliminary investigations suggest that heavy rains caused the driver to lose control of the bus.
