4 Colombian designers nominated for best handbags

by Marguerite Cawley June 2, 2011

Colombia news - bags

Four Colombian women have been chosen among the best independent handbag designers in the world for an upcoming awards ceremony, according to an official press release.

The four women, one the lead designer for Bogota-based handbag company INANAI, were chosen along with 40 other international finalists from over 1200 entries to participate in the Fifth Independent Handbag Designer Awards on June 15, 2011.

The competition, sponsored by InStyle Magazine and Handbag Designer 101 and held in New York City’s Time & Life Building, is the only one in the world dedicated to this industry, and is intended to “celebrate talented, emerging accessories designers.”

“I’m extremely happy to represent Colombia in this event. I am especially proud to have been chosen for this category and be able to showcase Colombian talent in the fashion industry”, said INANAI’s Adriana Vargas Forero, who draws her inspiration from the natural world and her Colombian heritage.
