The 25th edition of the Festival de Musica Colombiana will pay special tribute to the memory of the recently deceased singer Helena Vargas, “La Ronca de Oro.”

The festival will take place between the 12th and 22nd of March in Ibague, the capital of the Tolima department, on the road between Bogota and Cali.

During the festival, the sixth National Duet Competition, “Prince of Song,” will be held. It will feature star performances from “Los Hermanos Zuleta,” the “Rondalla Colombiana” and “Czech Acosta,” among others.

The third National Composition Contest, Leonor Buenaventura, will also be held during the festival.

Ahead of the actual festival, an official launch event will take place on the 24th of February, in Bogota, at the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo.

At this launch event, called “voices and strings in the wings of time,” homage will be paid to the duet “Silva and Villalba” with performance from such maestros as Jaime Llano González and Victor Hugo Ayala.
